Petrópolis hosts regional stage of Brazilian Robotics Olympiad

Petrópolis will host a regional stage of the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR) this Saturday at Shopping Pátio Petrópolis. The event features more than 400 students organized into 80 teams, ranging in age from 6 to 19 years old from both public and private schools.

Participants compete in two main modalities: theoretical and practical. The theoretical modality involves written exams, while the practical modality includes in-person categories such as Rescue Robotics, where autonomous robots simulate disaster victim rescue, and Artistic Robotics, which integrates robots into performances like theater or dance. There is also a virtual format for digital robot simulations.

This regional competition serves as a qualifier for the state stage in Volta Redonda and the national final in João Pessoa. Winners of the national competition will earn the opportunity to represent Brazil at the RoboCup World in Nuremberg, Germany, in 2027.
