Petrópolis intervenes in Turp Transporte management

The Petrópolis municipal government has decreed a total intervention in the management of Turp Transporte. This measure expands municipal authority over the company following four months of partial intervention, prompted by worsening financial and operational issues, including a recent bus strike.

The administration cited failures to comply with previous decrees, noting that financial decisions were made despite instructions to prioritize payroll and essential expenses. The city also reported a lack of transparency regarding vehicle seizures, the eviction of a garage in Itaipava, and significant liabilities related to the former Turb group. Under the new decree, the interventor will have direct control over administrative, financial, and operational decisions, including centralized payment authorization and contract reviews.

Separately, the Petrópolis Association of Tourism Guides (AGP) has denounced the recurring use of designated tourism parking and boarding areas for local events without prior notice. The AGP claims that the lack of planning and communication from the City Hall harms tourism professionals. Affected areas include Avenida Getúlio Vargas, Avenida Tiradentes, and several streets near the Imperial Museum and Palácio Quitandinha.
