Petrópolis requisitions former Turp garage in Itaipava
The Petrópolis City Hall has issued a decree for the administrative requisition of a former Turp bus garage located in Itaipava. This legal measure allows the government to temporarily and mandatorily use private property due to imminent public danger.
The decision follows the eviction of the bus company in August due to contract expiration and unpaid rent. Since then, the company has been operating from a site in Corrêas that lacks sufficient infrastructure. Local authorities state the current location can only service two buses at a time, whereas the Itaipava garage can maintain over 15 vehicles simultaneously. The move aims to prevent service interruptions and fleet maintenance issues caused by the company's current logistical constraints.
Turp will be required to pay monthly compensation for the use of the property, with the value to be determined by a permanent real estate evaluation commission based on market prices. The requisition will remain in effect until the conclusion of the ongoing intervention regarding the concessionaire.
