Peugeot 205 Lacoste: the first limited edition of the 205 model

The Peugeot 205 Lacoste, released in 1984, stands as the first limited edition series for the 205 model, predating the well-known Roland Garros editions by five years. Based on the mid-range GR trim, the vehicle featured a white exterior accented with green and red stripes, accompanied by matching hubcaps.

Produced over a three-year period, approximately 24,000 units were manufactured. While initially available only in five-door configurations, the model transitioned to a three-door version in the following two years. The interior was characterized by green carpeting and black velvet seats decorated with red, white, and green stripes.

Mechanical specifications included a 1360 cc engine producing 60 hp. Despite the modest power, the car's light weight of approximately 785 kg contributed to fluid acceleration and handling. Premium features for the era included a sunroof, central locking, tinted glass, and front electric windows, though it lacked air conditioning and power steering.
