Peugeot and Ferrari unveil 2027 Hypercar updates for World Endurance Championship

Peugeot Sport began testing an updated version of its 9X8 Hypercar at the Paul Ricard circuit, targeting an Evo package for the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship season. The manufacturer said the work aims to boost performance, efficiency and competitiveness and will use a new regulation clause that permits extra modifications for cars at a significant performance disadvantage. Peugeot remains committed to the Hypercar class through at least the end of the current rules cycle in 2029 and currently sits seventh in the manufacturers' standings.

At the same time, Scuderia Ferrari conducted tests of a revised 499P Hypercar at Monza, concealing aerodynamic changes with a camouflage livery. The team is preparing its biggest update since the car’s 2023 debut and may employ up to four remaining “joker” upgrades before the end of 2027. Drivers Antonio Fuoco, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Miguel Molina took part in the session. Both manufacturers aim to have their updated cars contest for top positions when the 2027 season launches.
