Peugeot and Ford announce new vehicle development strategies
Major automakers are exploring new strategies to navigate shifting market demands and emission regulations. Peugeot CEO Alain Favey has indicated that the company is considering a hybrid version of its iconic GTI model. While the brand has recently focused on the all-electric E-208 GTi, Favey suggested that a hybrid powertrain could be a viable path for the performance brand.
Simultaneously, Ford is reportedly developing the Mustang Mach 4, a four-door coupe expected to debut around 2028. A prototype was recently shown to dealers in Las Vegas. The vehicle aims to compete in the sedan segment with a projected starting price under $40,000 and performance capabilities including a 0-100 km/h acceleration in under four seconds.
