Peugeot introduces new Turbo 100 engine for 208 and 2008 models

Peugeot has introduced the Turbo 100, a new third-generation gasoline engine designed for the Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008 models. The engine features 70% new components by value, including a new timing chain, turbocharger, injection system, pistons, and cylinder block.

The 1,199 cm3 three-cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 101 CV at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 205 Nm starting from 1,750 rpm. It utilizes a variable geometry turbocharger to improve low-end response, enabling better urban driving and overtaking. The vehicle can reach a top speed of 183 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.8 seconds.

To optimize efficiency and reduce emissions, the engine incorporates a high-pressure direct injection system (350 bar) and a variable valve timing system to reduce internal friction. Additionally, the use of Miller cycle operation and high compression ratios improves thermal combustion efficiency. The Peugeot 2008 with the Turbo 100 engine reports a combined WLTP fuel consumption of 5.7 liters per 100 km.
