Peugeot launches E-208 GTI electric hot hatch

Peugeot has introduced the E-208 GTI, an all-electric hot hatch designed to revive the brand’s performance heritage. The model draws inspiration from the iconic 205 GTI, aiming to blend retro styling with modern electric propulsion.

This strategic shift toward retro-inspired design is part of a broader trend among European automakers, including Renault, Fiat, and BMW, as they attempt to leverage brand heritage to compete with the rising influx of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers such as BYD and MG. The E-208 GTI, part of the Stellantis group, follows similar performance-oriented electric models like the Opel Corsa GSE.
