Peugeot unveils controversial Hypersquare steering wheel

Peugeot has unveiled a controversial new steering wheel design named the ‘Hypersquare’ at the Paris Motor Show. The rectangular unit, which features four circular openings at the corners, was presented as part of the E-T16 Concept vehicle.

This concept car is a tribute to the 205 T16 rally car and is equipped with three electric motors producing 816 PS, capable of accelerating from 0 to 300 km/h in 16 seconds. Peugeot indicated that the Hypersquare design may be paired with steer-by-wire technology, which replaces mechanical connections with electronic signals. The company expects the new steering wheel to be implemented in a production model as early as 2027.
