PFAS chemical monitoring results released in Croatia and Luxembourg

Recent environmental monitoring in Croatia and Luxembourg has provided updated information regarding the presence of PFAS chemicals.

In Croatia, the Croatian Institute of Public Health reported that no PFAS compounds were detected above the limit of determination in 197 water samples analyzed in the Lika-Senj County and the islands of Pag and Rab. The latest testing conducted between September 28 and October 8 found all samples to be health-compliant, with the exception of one sample from an unused outdoor garden tap that showed elevated aluminum levels.

In Luxembourg, the Environment Agency announced that five specific models of children's rainwear failed safety inspections due to prohibited PFAS levels. The products, which include raincoats and trousers from brands such as H&M, Quechua, JBC, and Sports Direct, were flagged through the European Safety Gate system. While these products were withdrawn from the market in 2025, authorities have released specific model numbers to allow parents to check if they own any of the affected items.
