PFAS pollution: Dutch groups call for pesticide bans and legal action

Efforts to combat PFAS contamination in the Netherlands are intensifying through both regulatory calls and legal action. Water Natuurlijk has expressed support for a proposal by Stichting Gezond Water, urging the Hollandse Delta water board to ban the use of PFAS-containing pesticides on its lands. These substances contribute to the spread of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in water and groundwater, posing risks to water quality, nature, and public health.

In South Holland, the non-profit foundation PFAS Vrij Green Claim is launching a campaign to organize residents for a collective legal action against Chemours. The foundation demands that Chemours immediately cease PFAS emissions and compensate for the resulting damages. The group is working with legal experts and professional litigation funders to bring the case to court, aiming to address the global issue of PFAS pollution through local action.
