Pfizer and Enodia Therapeutics announce $500m drug discovery deal

Pfizer and Enodia Therapeutics have entered into a research collaboration and licensing agreement potentially valued at over $500 million. The partnership focuses on the discovery and development of Sec61 inhibitors.

Under the terms of the deal, Enodia Therapeutics will lead the initial discovery phase, utilizing its platform to identify and refine small-molecule candidates. This platform employs machine learning and structural biology to modulate the Sec61 Translocon, aiming to halt the synthesis of harmful proteins before they cause disease pathology while maintaining normal cellular functions.

Once the collaboration phase is complete, Pfizer will assume responsibility for clinical trials, manufacturing, regulatory submissions, and commercial operations. Enodia Therapeutics will receive an undisclosed upfront fee, along with potential milestone payments related to research, development, and sales, as well as tiered royalties on future net sales.
