Pfizer to restore Lebocar Parkinson's medication supply by year-end

Pfizer has announced that the supply of Lebocar, a critical medication containing levodopa used to treat Parkinson's disease, will normalize between November and December of this year. This timeline is significantly earlier than the previously estimated date of March 2027.

Pfizer currently supplies approximately 70% of the market in Argentina. The sudden interruption of production had caused significant concern for the government and patient advocacy groups, such as the Red Argentina de Parkinson, which represents over 90,000 patients. The group warned that interruptions in levodopa can lead to serious deterioration in patient mobility.

To mitigate the shortage, the local laboratory Bagó is increasing production of its bioequivalent medication. Bagó aims to produce within two to three months the volume of medicine it previously manufactured in a full year to help cover the 20% of the market it serves.
