PFL CEO disputes UFC rumors regarding Usman Nurmagomedov

PFL CEO John Martin has addressed widespread speculation regarding the free agency of undefeated lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov. Appearing on ‘The Ariel Helwani Show’, Martin dismissed reports suggesting an inevitable move to the UFC as ‘misinformation’.

Martin clarified that the UFC is currently legally barred from extending a formal offer to Nurmagomedov due to a 90-day exclusive negotiating window held by the PFL. He emphasized that the PFL is actively preparing a competitive proposal to present to the fighter and his team, which includes his cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

While public interest in Nurmagomedov has surged following his recent knockout victory over Archie Colgan, Martin maintains that the PFL intends to fight to keep the champion within their organization rather than allowing him to depart without a competitive negotiation process.
