PGA Tour Unveils 2028 Championship and Challenger Series Structure

The PGA Tour will launch a two‑tier schedule in 2028. The top‑level Championship Series will feature the 120 highest‑ranked players in roughly 23 events with minimum purses of $20 million, including the four majors, the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup. The lower Challenger Series will host 144 players in events with at least $4 million in prize money, and players may move between tiers only after the season ends.

The rollout continued with the fifth confirmed Championship Series tournament, the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral near Miami. Cameron Young won the event by six strokes, and former President Donald Trump attended the final round. PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp announced the new format and said a full tournament lineup is expected in early 2027.
