PG&E Foundation and California Fire Foundation award $1 million in wildfire safety grants

The PG&E Corporation Foundation and the California Fire Foundation have awarded $1 million in wildfire safety grants to 75 local fire departments, agencies, and nonprofit organizations across Northern and Central California. These grants are part of the broader 2026 Wildfire Safety and Preparedness Program (WSPP), which receives a total of $1.8 million in charitable funding from PG&E and its foundation.

The funding is intended to support various safety initiatives, including the purchase of personal protective and specialized equipment for firefighters, vegetation management to create defensible space, hazard reduction, and public fire safety education. The program aims to benefit approximately 4.2 million residents across 36 counties. Since 2018, this grant program has distributed $6.5 million to 505 grantees, with total WSPP support reaching $12.25 million. The funding is provided by shareholders rather than customers.
