PGE GiEK settles Turów Power Station dispute for 135 million PLN
PGE GiEK S.A. has received a payment of 135 million PLN following a settlement regarding the design and construction of unit no. 7 at the Turów Power Station. The agreement, reached through mediation by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Poland, concludes a long-standing dispute with a consortium including MPE Deutschland GmbH, Budimex S.A., and Técnicas Reunidas S.A.
The settlement provides significant economic benefits for PGE GiEK. As part of the deal, the contractor waived claims for unpaid remuneration totaling approximately 164 million PLN net and ceased pursuing the return of roughly 134.5 million PLN taken from performance guarantees. Additionally, the contract price was reduced by 56.8 million PLN net, bringing the total value of favorable resolutions for the company to nearly half a billion PLN. Unit no. 7 is a modern 496 MW supercritical unit within the Polish conventional energy sector.
