PG&E restores power to Bay Area customers as fire risk decreases

PG&E has begun restoring electricity to thousands of customers across the Bay Area following a period of Public Safety Power Shutoffs. Improving weather conditions and subsiding offshore winds have allowed the utility to begin service restoration earlier than originally estimated.

As of Friday afternoon, several thousand outages remained in Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, and Sonoma counties. Solano County reported that all outages had been resolved. While a red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service expired on Friday, forecasters noted that moderate heat and hot conditions were expected to persist through Saturday.
