PGPZ registers first lobbyist in Washington for Zcash advocacy
Pretty Good Policy for Zcash (PGPZ), a non-profit advocacy group for the Zcash ecosystem, has officially registered its first lobbyist in Washington, D.C. Executive Director Divij Pandya was named in federal lobbying registration filings submitted during the week of October 4.
PGPZ aims to engage U.S. policymakers on critical issues including financial privacy, encryption standards, and digital asset market structures. Key legislative focuses include the CLARITY Act, specifically regarding developer protections, as well as anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, sanctions, and tax policy. The group also intends to respond to proposed cryptocurrency rules from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
To fund its first 12 months of operations, PGPZ applied for a $750,000 grant through the Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) program. The ZCG committee approved the request on August 31. While PGPZ received early support from the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL), it is operating as an independent entity with its own board and accounting to ensure it represents the broader ecosystem rather than specific corporate interests.
