Phú Quốc accelerates infrastructure development for APEC 2027

Phú Quốc is undergoing rapid infrastructure and economic transformation in preparation for hosting the APEC 2027 summit. Major construction projects are accelerating to meet the deadline, most notably the expansion of the Phú Quốc International Airport led by Sun Group. The new T2 terminal, designed with a phoenix motif, has reached 95% completion of its concrete structure and 70% of its steel roof structure, with a design capacity of 24 million passengers per year.

This massive development is shifting the island's economic landscape from traditional tourism and construction toward high-tech and specialized sectors. The emergence of an aviation ecosystem, including the expansion of airport facilities and the presence of SunPhuQuoc Airways, is driving demand for skilled professionals such as automation engineers, medical specialists, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) experts, and logistics specialists. The infrastructure projects, which include a light rail transit (LRT) line and an APEC Convention and Exhibition Center, are expected to create tens of thousands of jobs.
