Pühajärv to host Water Accessibility Festival

A Water Accessibility Festival will take place on August 20 at Lake Pühajärv in Otepää, aimed at families and the general public. The event, organized as part of the ‘Riverways II’ project, is co-funded by the EU Interreg Estonia-Latvia program.

The day begins at 11:00 AM with an accessible triathlon featuring participants with visual impairments to demonstrate that water sports are available to everyone. Attendees can use simulation glasses to experience different levels of visual impairment and learn about water safety from the Otepää Rescue Command.

Additional activities include free trials of various watercraft at the Pühajärv Boat Harbour, including a ridefoil demonstration and competition. Local businesses from Otepää Street will host workshops and displays, while the Lake Museum offers children’s activities such as fish-themed crafts, bingo, and quizzes. The event will conclude with a concert by artist Jaan Tätte.
