Pham Nhat Vuong celebrates 58th birthday as Vingroup posts record profit

Vietnamese billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong turned 58 on August 5. Days before his birthday, Vingroup reported a record second‑quarter profit of VND 14.764 trillion, up about 543 % year‑on‑year. For the first half of the year the group posted revenue of VND 222.336 trillion (up 72.5 %) and net profit after tax of VND 20.375 trillion (up nearly 349 %). Total assets reached over VND 1.3 million trillion, a 17 % increase, while cash and bank deposits hit VND 105.429 trillion, a 15 % rise. Vingroup’s market capitalisation is around VND 1.7 million trillion, keeping its shares near a price peak and lifting the billionaire’s net worth to roughly US$34 billion, ranking him 66th on Forbes’ list. A significant portion of his wealth is tied to VinFast, the electric‑vehicle arm listed on Nasdaq and now among the world’s ten largest EV firms by market value. Looking ahead, Vingroup aims for 2026 revenue of VND 485 000 trillion and profit of VND 35 000 trillion, expanding its focus on technology, industry, commerce, services, philanthropy, infrastructure, green energy and culture.
