Phantom Blade Zero gameplay previews highlight combat and digital-only launch

S-GAME’s upcoming wuxia action RPG, Phantom Blade Zero, is generating significant industry buzz following hands-on previews. The title, set in a “kungfupunk” world, follows a protagonist named Soul who has only 66 days to live. Early gameplay impressions highlight fluid combat mechanics centered on a Sha-Chi meter, diverse weapon systems, and challenging boss encounters. Unlike many games in the genre, the developers have stated that enemies will not respawn to ensure players always experience new content.

To accommodate different player preferences, the game will feature multiple difficulty levels. Director Soulframe (Qiwei Liang) noted that these options aim to allow players to enjoy the martial arts choreography and narrative without being barred by extreme difficulty.

However, the announcement of a digital-only launch for PlayStation 5 and PC has caused frustration among collectors and physical media enthusiasts. While retailer Play-Asia had previously listed a physical edition, they have since removed it, aligning with the confirmed digital-only release strategy. The game is scheduled for release on October 29, 2026.
