S-Game reveals details for Phantom Blade Zero release
S-Game is preparing for the October 29, 2026, release of its highly anticipated action RPG, Phantom Blade Zero, on PlayStation 5 and PC. The game features a unique “kung-fu punk” aesthetic, blending traditional Chinese martial arts with modern elements. Development includes motion capture assistance from martial arts star Donnie Yen.
Game director Soulframe (Liang Qiwei) has revealed extensive content, including at least 50 unique bosses and approximately 50 weapons (30 primary and 20 secondary). Defeating bosses is the primary method for unlocking these weapons. To enhance accessibility and reduce repetitive grinding, the developers have implemented mechanics where players can resume boss fights from their last reached phase rather than restarting the entire encounter, and common enemies will not respawn.
The studio describes the project as having the production scale of a AAA title but maintaining the creative spirit of an indie game. While the game is expected to offer a 30 to 40-hour main campaign, the inclusion of diverse combat mechanics—such as a “Drunken Sword” that grows stronger as the character becomes more intoxicated—aims to encourage player experimentation. Notably, reports indicate the game will launch as a digital-only title, which may disappoint collectors seeking physical disc versions.
