Pharmaceutical firms face climate-driven supply chain risks

A report by the British Standards Institute (BSI) reveals that 87% of pharmaceutical companies in G7 nations are concerned about supply chain disruptions caused by intensifying climate change.

The healthcare sector is currently responsible for 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In response, the industry is increasingly integrating climate action into core business strategies. According to the report, 96% of pharmaceutical leaders aim to achieve net zero emissions in alignment with national programs, and 78% believe these programs are vital for future sector resilience.

Furthermore, 82% of respondents indicated that the economic risks of failing to undergo a green transition outweigh the costs of implementing net zero initiatives. Approximately 37% of companies plan to increase investments in net zero projects within the coming year.
