Pharmacist emphasizes proper wound care and infection prevention

During the Hansaplast First Aid Conference 2026 in Jakarta, pharmacist Dr. apt. Lusy Noviani emphasized that proper wound care involves more than just covering a wound to ensure healing. Incorrect initial treatment of minor injuries, such as scratches or abrasions, can increase the risk of infection and lead to permanent scarring.

Noviani noted that healthcare professionals must understand how to protect wounds from the beginning and manage scar care effectively. She highlighted the importance of assessing both the condition of the wound and the patient's specific needs to determine the correct first aid approach.

The conference also introduced spray plaster technology as a practical solution for high-mobility individuals. Unlike conventional bandages, this spray-on method creates a flexible, transparent, and waterproof layer using ethyl cellulose, glycerin, and castor oil, allowing the skin to breathe while protecting the area from dirt and water.
