Phase3D secures Air Force contract and defense reseller deal

Phase3D, a Chicago-based developer of 3D printing quality assurance software, has secured a contract from the U.S. Department of the Air Force to adapt its Fringe Inspection platform for ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). This Phase I effort aims to support propulsion, hypersonic, and thermal-protection programs by providing real-time, in-situ inspection for materials that offer superior thermal resistance and strength-to-weight ratios compared to metal alloys.

In a separate commercial development, Phase3D has entered an agreement with Phillips Federal, making the latter the exclusive reseller of Phase3D products for the North American defense market. This partnership aims to increase the accessibility of metal additive manufacturing technology. Both companies maintain ties to the U.S. Navy’s additive manufacturing efforts and seek to broaden the user pool for advanced manufacturing tools within the defense sector.
