Phayao flash floods hit Chiang Kham and Pong districts

Heavy overnight rainfall triggered flash floods in the Chiang Kham and Pong districts of Phayao province, Thailand. The flooding occurred around 2:00 AM on July 7, 2026, as water rushed from high-altitude areas into local communities.

In Ban Nong Pa Phae, residents reported that the rapid influx of water caught many by surprise, as the area is situated on relatively high ground and has not experienced such severe flooding in decades. Many households were unable to move belongings in time, resulting in damage to electrical appliances and personal property. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Local authorities, including the Rom Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization and military personnel from the 17th Infantry Regiment, 4th Battalion, have deployed to assist with cleanup efforts and damage assessment. Officials are monitoring the situation closely due to the possibility of further rainfall.
