Phayao police arrest man with 290 methamphetamine pills

Police in Phayao arrested a 28-year-old man on September 19, 2026, after discovering 290 methamphetamine pills in his possession. The arrest occurred in Ban Tam Subdistrict, Mueang Phayao District, after officers noticed the man acting suspiciously while carrying a fishing rod.

During a search, officers found 22 pills in the suspect's left pocket and an additional 268 pills in a blue shoulder bag. The suspect confessed to the possession and admitted to using the drugs. He claimed to have purchased the narcotics from an individual known as ‘Nai Wat’ in Pong District, stating he typically buys approximately 2,000 pills for 4,000 baht at a time. The suspect has been charged with illegal possession and consumption of Type 1 narcotics.
