Phewa Lake car accident kills two Indian nationals in Pokhara
Two Indian nationals died and two others were injured after their car plunged into Phewa Lake in Pokhara, Nepal, early Friday morning. The accident occurred at approximately 4:50 a.m. at the Gairichaura turn in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 when the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling from Sedi toward Lakeside.
The car, which bears an Indian registration number (BR 05 DB 6759), fell about 20 meters from the road into the water. Rescue operations involving the police and the Armed Police Force recovered four people from the lake. Two survivors, identified as 27-year-old Anmol Kumar Yadav and 33-year-old Suraj Yadav, both from Raxaul, Bihar, were taken to Gandaki Medical College in moderate condition.
Two other occupants were recovered unconscious and later pronounced dead at the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences. One deceased victim was identified as 26-year-old Navdeep Kumar Yadav of Raxaul, East Champaran. The identity of the second deceased individual, a man estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, has not yet been established. The vehicle was retrieved from the lake using a crane and has been moved to the Baidam Ward Police Office as investigations continue.
