Phil Collins and Paul McCartney end decades-long feud
Phil Collins and Paul McCartney have ended a decades-long feud following a recent telephone conversation. The tension between the musicians dates back to 2002 during rehearsals for the Queen’s Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace.
The conflict began when Collins asked McCartney to sign a first edition of a Beatles biography. McCartney reportedly made a comment to his then-wife, Heather Mills, referring to Collins as “our little Phil” and noting he was a big Beatles fan. Collins felt the remark was condescending, a sentiment he later addressed in his 2016 memoir, “Not Dead Yet”.
While McCartney previously attempted to resolve the matter via email, Collins did not respond at the time. The reconciliation occurred in 2026 after McCartney reached out to Collins regarding a charity auction for the Kings Trust. The two musicians used the opportunity to discuss and resolve their long-standing disagreement.
