Phil Collins discusses health recovery and potential musical return

Phil Collins, the former Genesis singer and drummer, has opened up about a critical health crisis caused by alcohol consumption. The musician revealed that his liver and kidneys began to fail, leading to a period in 2024 where he was on life support. He described the experience as a ‘dark period,’ noting that his drinking did not involve losing control but rather a routine consumption that his body could no longer tolerate.

Collins stated that he has been sober for three years and is currently undergoing physical therapy three times a week to regain his fitness. He described his current physical state as ‘100 percent’ and mentioned he is working through various physical challenges, including recovering from knee surgeries and managing foot issues.

Regarding his musical career, Collins has not released a studio album since ‘Going Back’ in 2010. However, he has not ruled out a return to the studio, noting that he still has material he could finish and a small personal studio where he enjoys experimenting with music.
