Phil Collins' son Mathew Collins signs with German club TSV 1860 Munich
Mathew Collins, a 21‑year‑old midfielder and the son of music legend Phil Collins, has signed a one‑year contract with TSV 1860 Munich that runs until the summer of 2027. The former Bundesliga champion now competes in the Regionalliga Bayern, the fourth tier of German football, after losing its licence for the third division.
Collins, who holds Swiss and British citizenship, was born in Switzerland and developed in the youth systems of Austrian club WSG Tirol, German sides Astoria Walldorf and Hannover 96, and later played for Austria Salzburg. The club’s general manager Thomas Probst praised the signing, saying the player “is an asset for us both on the pitch and off it.” Collins noted the enthusiastic support he received during pre‑season trials, where up to 3,000 fans attended.
The transfer is part of TSV 1860’s rebuilding effort after financial difficulties forced the departure of a long‑time investor and a turnover of many players. The club hopes Collins can help the Bavarian side regain its former standing.
