Phil Lewis questions Mötley Crüe's decision to end retirement
L.A. Guns frontman Phil Lewis has expressed skepticism regarding Mötley Crüe's decision to return to performing after previously announcing their retirement. In a recent interview with TotalRock, Lewis suggested that returning to the stage may not have been the best move for the band.
Lewis noted the difficulties veteran musicians face when attempting to perform demanding material later in their careers. He cited Deep Purple as an example, stating it was disappointing to hear vocalist Ian Gillan struggling with high-intensity songs like ‘Highway Star’. He contrasted this with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, whom he praised for adapting his performance style to suit his age.
Regarding his own band, L.A. Guns, Lewis indicated there are no immediate plans for a new studio album, noting that the band has released significant material recently. However, he clarified that he has no intention of retiring yet, stating that performing keeps him feeling young and sharp.
