Phil Lynott solo career box set ‘The Story Of My Life’ announced

A comprehensive 8-CD box set titled ‘The Story Of My Life’ has been announced to chronicle the solo career of Phil Lynott, the former frontman of Thin Lizzy. Released by Mercury/Universal Music, the collection is scheduled for release on October 30.

Edited by Thin Lizzy archivist Nick Sharpe with support from the Phil Lynott estate, the set includes his two solo albums, ‘Solo in Soho’ and ‘The Philip Lynott Album’, alongside the previously unreleased album ‘Fatalistic Attitude’. The latter was originally intended for a January 1982 release but was shelved by Vertigo Records due to its dark tone, eventually being reworked into ‘The Philip Lynott Album’.

The collection features 29 previously unreleased tracks, including rare demos, alternate versions, and recordings from his band Grand Slam. Notable inclusions are ‘Can’t Get Away’, a track recorded with Huey Lewis shortly before Lynott’s death, and collaborations with artists such as Gary Moore and Junior Giscombe. The deluxe package will also include a booklet with commentary by Mark Blake from Mojo magazine.
