Philadelphia and Greenwich announce 2026 leaf recycling programs
The Philadelphia Sanitation Department and the Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works have announced their respective leaf collection schedules for late 2026.
In Philadelphia, the Fall Leaf Recycling Program will run from November 2 through December 19. The city will utilize mechanical collection methods, including blowers, sweepers, and loaders, in areas with dense vegetation. The schedule includes Oak Lane and Frankford from November 2 to 6, West Philadelphia from November 9 to 13, the Northeast from November 16 to 27, South Philadelphia from November 30 to December 4, and the Northwest from December 7 to 18. Residents are advised to rake leaves to the curb by 7:00 am on their scheduled day.
In Greenwich, the annual program is set to begin on November 9, weather permitting, and is expected to conclude in mid-December. The service is available to residential properties of half-acre or less on public roads. Residents should pile leaves near the street edge without obstructing sidewalks or catch basins. Only biodegradable bags are permitted, as plastic bags will not be collected. The program will pause for Thanksgiving on November 26 and 27.
