Philadelphia, Boston, and Denver named finalists for 2028 DNC

The Democratic National Committee has narrowed the race to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention to three finalist cities: Philadelphia, Boston, and Denver. The announcement follows site visits conducted by officials in the spring to evaluate fundraising capacity and logistical metrics.

Atlanta and Chicago, the host of the 2024 convention, have been eliminated from contention. DNC Chairman Ken Martin described the remaining bids as “incredibly strong.” A final decision on the host city is expected to be announced later this year.

The convention is scheduled to take place from August 7 to August 10, 2028. If selected, Philadelphia would host the event at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. The city last hosted the Democratic convention in 2016.
