Philadelphia Cycling Classic returns after 10-year hiatus

The Philadelphia Cycling Classic is returning on August 30, 2026, marking the first time the professional race has been held in the city since 2016. The event features 212 riders from 28 countries and 36 teams, including eight WorldTour teams, competing for a $75,000 prize purse in both the men’s and women’s races.

The 14.4-mile course includes segments through the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Fairmount Park, Kelly Drive, and Manayunk. A central challenge of the route is the ‘Manayunk Wall,’ a steep climb with a 17% grade on Levering Street. The women’s race, covering 62 miles over four laps, is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 120-mile race at noon.

Local officials, including Mayor Cherelle Parker, have highlighted the event as a way to return Philadelphia to the international sporting spotlight. The race is sanctioned by USA Cycling and the Union Cycliste Internationale. Spectators can view the race from various locations, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Main Street in Manayunk, and attend a free Fan Fest near Eakins Oval.
