Philadelphia Eagles release veteran quarterback Andy Dalton

Philadelphia Eagles Andy Dalton NFL roster moves quarterback

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially released veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. The decision follows a Week 2 appearance where Dalton threw an interception against the Chicago Bears while Jalen Hurts was being evaluated for a concussion.

With Dalton's departure, the Eagles will move forward with Tanner McKee and rookie Cole Payton as the primary backups to Hurts. The team also announced other roster changes, including signing center Jake Majors and running back Carson Steele to the active roster, while placing defensive tackle Uar Bernard on the practice squad injured list.

Dalton, 38, joined the Eagles this offseason via a trade with the Carolina Panthers. While he was initially selected as the QB2 following a training camp battle, the team has opted to restructure the depth chart to address other roster needs.
