Philadelphia Eagles sign QB Joe Milton from Cowboys practice squad

NFL Philadelphia Eagles Joe Milton Dallas Cowboys quarterback signing

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed quarterback Joe Milton to their 53-man active roster. Milton joins the team after spending the 2026 season on the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad.

The move comes in response to Philadelphia's starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts, being sidelined indefinitely due to a superficial blood clot. With only Tanner McKee and rookie Cole Payton available, the Eagles added Milton to provide depth and competition for the starting role. While McKee is expected to start this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, Milton is positioned to compete for the position during Hurts' absence.

Milton, who was previously drafted by the New England Patriots before being traded to Dallas, has gained attention for his preseason performance. During the 2026 preseason with the Cowboys, he completed 67.4% of his passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
