NFL preseason updates: Eagles roster moves and QB competition
As the NFL preseason progresses, teams are finalizing rosters and evaluating depth. The Philadelphia Eagles have made several significant moves, most notably waiving wide receiver Johnny Wilson with an injury designation. Wilson, a former sixth-round draft pick, is expected to revert to injured reserve due to a lingering knee injury. To bolster their roster, the Eagles signed Brandon Hayes and center Zeke Carroll.
In Philadelphia, head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that the competition for the backup quarterback position remains active between Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee. While Dalton has seen more preseason snaps due to his experience, McKee’s recent performance, including two touchdowns, has kept the race competitive.
Other league developments include the New York Jets evaluating roster battles in their secondary and quarterback rooms, and the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals being projected as strong contenders for the AFC North in upcoming season predictions. Additionally, high school football is underway, with Florida State commit Logan Flaherty recording four touchdowns in his season opener.
