Philadelphia Film Festival celebrates 35th anniversary
The Philadelphia Film Festival is celebrating its 35th anniversary with an 11-day program running from October 15 to 25. The festival's first wave of programming includes new works from directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Danny Boyle, and Martin McDonagh.
Featured films include Cristian Mungiu's ‘Fjord’, a Palme d'Or winner from Cannes, and Beth de Araújo's ‘Josephine’, which received both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Sundance. The festival will also host four world premieres within its Filmadelphia section: ‘Big Phan’, ‘Gentle by Birth’, ‘I Don't Want to Drink Your Blood Anymore’, and ‘Joy Will Prevail’.
In addition to screenings, the event will feature filmmaker Q&As, red carpet appearances, and community programs. The festival is part of ‘Reel October’, a celebration by the Philadelphia Film Society that includes two weeks of 35mm screenings.
