Philadelphia Flyers face early season struggles and coaching scrutiny

The Philadelphia Flyers have faced a difficult start to the 2026-2027 season, recording a record of 0-3-2 with only six goals scored. This performance has placed head coach Rick Tocchet under scrutiny regarding his future with the team.

Potential coaching replacements have been discussed, including former Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch. Knoblauch previously served as an assistant coach for the Flyers from 2017 to 2019 and has experience managing young talent.

On the roster, winger Owen Tippett is being highlighted as a potential breakout candidate. Following a 28-goal season and a summer spent recovering from an ailment, Tippett is expected to play a significant role, potentially benefiting from a young power play unit led by players such as Matvei Michkov and Tyson Foerster.
