Philadelphia Flyers place defenseman Helge Grans on waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have placed 24-year-old Swedish defenseman Helge Grans on waivers. If Grans is not claimed by another NHL team within the 24-hour window, he will likely be reassigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Grans recently returned from injury to make his first NHL appearance in nearly two years during a game against the Boston Bruins. In that appearance, he recorded a minus-1 rating in 12:26 of ice time. The roster move follows a difficult start for the Flyers, who have lost seven consecutive games.

The decision may be linked to the health of other players on the Flyers' defensive roster. With Rasmus Ristolainen on injured reserve and Cam York previously listed as day-to-day, the return of these players could necessitate Grans' reassignment to the AHL.
