Boston Bruins defeat Philadelphia Flyers in preseason matchup

The Boston Bruins secured a 5-1 preseason victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, a game marked by an injury to Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar. During the first period, Vladar exited the game with an apparent upper-body injury after contact with Bruins forward Tanner Jeannot.

Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet described Vladar as day-to-day, noting that the team feels they “dodged a bullet” regarding the severity of the injury. Backup goaltender Joseph Woll is expected to take on a larger role if Vladar requires extended time for recovery.

In addition to the injury news, the Flyers are implementing tactical changes, including a revamped power play featuring younger players such as Matvei Michkov and Trevor Zegras. Meanwhile, the Bruins continue to finalize their roster, with players like Mikey Eyssimont and Matt Poitras competing for permanent positions ahead of the 2026-27 regular season.
