Philadelphia hosts cultural exhibition and community fundraiser

Philadelphia is hosting two distinct community cultural events. Ivette Chaires, an artist from Puebla, Mexico, has launched a new exhibition at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens. Her papier-mâché figures, inspired by Day of the Dead themes, explore the meaning of life and death. The exhibition also serves as a tribute to the late founding artist of the Magic Gardens, Isaiah Zagar, and will be on display until November 8.

Additionally, Philly AIDS Thrift is celebrating its 21st anniversary with a block party in South Philadelphia on September 26. The street festival features live music, local vendors, and food to support HIV/AIDS prevention and care services. Since its inception in 2005, the organization has donated over $5.7 million to the community, including $400,000 in recent grants to local nonprofits.
