Philadelphia man charged with identity theft and shoplifting in Brigantine

A Philadelphia man, identified as 35-year-old Rodney J. Davis, faces multiple charges following a shoplifting incident at a Wawa in Brigantine, New Jersey.

Police responded to the Wawa on Brigantine Boulevard on September 15 after staff reported shoplifting. Officers located Davis at a nearby bus stop with merchandise in his possession. During the encounter, Davis provided a false name and date of birth. Police noted that the photograph associated with the provided identity did not match Davis.

Further investigation revealed that Davis had an outstanding 2022 warrant for failing to appear on shoplifting charges in Salem County. Authorities stated that Davis continued to use the false identity during the arrest processing and signed paperwork with the incorrect name. He has been charged with shoplifting, two counts of identity theft, forgery, uttering a forged document, and hindering apprehension. Davis was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
