Philadelphia man faces weapons charges after Lacey Township head-on crash
Jared Beswick, a 27-year-old Philadelphia man, faces weapons charges following a head-on collision on Route 539 in Lacey Township. The crash occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 13.
Authorities report that Beswick was driving a Ford Explorer northbound when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound Toyota RAV4. The driver of the RAV4 and a passenger in Beswick's vehicle were both transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where they remain in serious but stable condition.
During the investigation, police discovered two loaded handguns, three high-capacity ammunition magazines, and hollow-point ammunition inside Beswick's vehicle. Officers also reported finding open alcohol containers and pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, noting that Beswick showed signs of impairment at the scene. Beswick has been charged with two counts of assault by auto and will be transferred to the Ocean County Jail following his release from the hospital.
