Philadelphia Phillies activate pitcher Tanner Banks from 60-day IL

The Philadelphia Phillies have reinstated left-handed pitcher Tanner Banks from the 60-day injured list. Banks returns to the bullpen for the final two weeks of the regular season following a forearm strain that sidelined him in July.

To accommodate Banks on the 28-man roster, the Phillies have designated infielder Christian Cairo for assignment and optioned right-hander Grant Holman to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The move provides depth to a bullpen that recently faced challenges, including a game on September 12 where Jesús Luzardo was scratched due to shoulder soreness, forcing the team to use position player Garrett Stubbs in relief.
