Philadelphia Phillies players pursue major MLB milestones
Philadelphia Phillies players Jesús Luzardo and Luis Arráez are pursuing significant career milestones as the Major League Baseball regular season nears its conclusion.
Pitcher Jesús Luzardo is four strikeouts away from reaching 1,000 career strikeouts. Currently on the 15-day injured list due to left shoulder inflammation, Luzardo is eligible to return on September 27. If he returns, he could join an exclusive group of Venezuelan pitchers, including Félix Hernández and Johan Santana, to reach this mark. His current season includes 221 strikeouts and his first All-Star selection.
Batter Luis Arráez has recorded 182 hits this season, surpassing his previous personal bests and keeping his pursuit of a fourth batting title alive. Arráez currently maintains a .313 batting average and is contending for the National League hits lead. He is also working toward reaching the 200-hit milestone for the third time in his career.
